I am raising funds for CURE CANCER AUSTRALIA FOUNDATION

One in two families are touched by cancer in their lifetime and Cure Cancer Australia is determined to improve prevention, detection and treatment outcomes to reduce the suffering caused by cancer.

My beloved Mum (pictured with me in the waters of Fiji) passed away this year after a lengthy battle with cancer. Or I should say Anne, married to Barry, Mum of Jason, Liz, Sal & I, and 'Meema' to Chelsea, Ruby, Ben, Izzy, and little Rose, as they will all be making this trip with me in spirit.

To complete the trek will fulfill a promise I made to her while in hospital. The 70th anniversary Kokoda trek will be completed just before what would have been her 70th birthday. Her father (Joffre Watkins) was part of the PNG campaign and was awarded the Military Cross for "Calmness and Courage under Fire", similar to what my Mum displayed in her battle.

So please any donation will mean the world to me, and will help me to complete this trek knowing the support is there, and more importantly help in the fight against cancer.

In 2012, Cure Cancer Australia will provide 30 one year grants of $100,000 each to the best young researchers in our country with fresh approaches across all areas of cancer research.

CURE CANCER AUSTRALIA'S focus is to find a cure for cancer. $50 funds one hour, $1,900 funds one week, $7,500 funds one month and $100,000 funds one year of vital cancer research. 

Untold thousands of lives have already been saved as a result of research. However, one life lost to cancer is still one too many. Cure Cancer Australia will not give up on the fight until we can realise 'a world without cancer, nothing less. '
