This November marks the 70th anniversary of the famous Australian victory in PNG in WW2 and I am challenging myself to walk the Kokoda Track to raise money for the CURE CANCER AUSTRALIA FOUNDATION.

I will be doing this in memory of my late Grandfather, Claude, who fought in New Guinea in World War II and in honour my beautiful Grandmother, Nyla, who has just last month lost her battle with cancer.

Whilst I am embarking on this trek to mentally and physically challenge myself, i am doing this to try and raise some much needed funds for the Cure Cancer Australia Foundation. I have set myself a fundraising target of $10,000 and am hoping that you are able to dig deep for this great cause. You will be able to follow my journey from start to finish and I will keep everyone updated on my progress of both my training and funds raised.

Every bit counts. I will also offer any corporates an opportunity to have a photo of their logo taken on the kokoda track. I am also looking for sponsors that can have their businesses on my training and trekking T-shirts.

One in two families are touched by cancer in their lifetime and Cure Cancer Australia is determined to improve prevention, detection and treatment outcomes to reduce the suffering caused by cancer.

In 2012, Cure Cancer Australia will provide 30 one year grants of $100,000 each to the best young researchers in our country with fresh approaches across all areas of cancer research.

CURE CANCER AUSTRALIA'S focus is to find a cure for cancer. $50 funds one hour, $1,900 funds one week, $7,500 funds one month and $100,000 funds one year of vital cancer research. 

Untold thousands of lives have already been saved as a result of research. However, one life lost to cancer is still one too many. Cure Cancer Australia will not give up on the fight until we can realise 'a world without cancer, nothing less. '
